Previous Episode
The episode starts with Shugo running from some goblin creatures. After running back and forth from them, he accidentally
runs into Sanjuro. Sanjuro tells him to stop running and fight the monsters. After failing miserably, Sanjuro decides to
spare Shugo the embarrassment and he takes out the goblins. After doing this, he tells Shugo to take out that next one.
Shugo does a good job dodging the enemies' attacks before his luck runs out and he is clobbered. Sanjuro is embarrassed because
moments before that he said Shugo was showing promise and that he was learning how to fight. When Sanjuro and Shugo finish
training, they return to Dun Loreig. There, Rena is waiting for them and she tells Shugo the he has spent a lot of time playing
with Sanjuro lately. Shugo replies that they were not playing they were training. Sanjuro chimes in and says that a warrior
needs to train. Rena replies that Shugo is not a warrior and that she is feeling neglected that they should spend more time
together.
In Mac Anu, the Shugo and Rena learn about the Festival of the Weaver Maiden that will be held later that day. Rena explains
that the event is the celebration of reuniting of two lovers, Altair and Vega. Shugo does not really understand the significance
of the event but decides that it could be an interesting event. Suddenly a blonde stranger named Kumiyan the 3rd offers Rena
a rose. This angers Shugo that a complete stranger would come up and flirt with his sister. When Kumiyan starts laughing
Shugo immediately recognizes him as Kumiyama (a boy from class last year).
Lord Balmung is off on his own when Reiki shows up. Reki asks Balmung if he is going to plan tonight's event. Balmung
says that he just wants to be a normal player and that he is going to enter the festival as a normal player. He hands control
of the event to Reki and before he leaves, he mentions that another programmer has gone into a coma. Reki wonders how this
could happen since the last upgrade should have prevented that from happening again. Balmung tells Reki that he suspects
that the Twilight is coming.
In the field Distant Azure River, is where the festival of Tanabata is scheduled to take place. Shugo is already there
waiting for the others to arrive. When Mireille shows up, she is wearing a rare yukata that she received as a rare item from
a very tough battle. Shortly after, Hotaru, Ouka and Rena teleport in and they, too, are wearing yukatas, but theirs are
not as rare as Mireille's. According to Tanabata tradition, everyone must write a wish down and hang it on the tree branches.
By doing this, the wishes will come true. Not knowing what to write, Shugo sneaks behind the girls to learn what their wishes
are. Mireille wants a rare item. Hotaru wants her Grunty to grow up big and strong. Ouka wants worthy enemies. When Shugo
gets to Rena, she quickly covers up her wish so Shugo will not be able to read it.
As they are hanging up their wishes, Komiyan the 3rd finds them. He boastfully hangs up his wish for all to see, "He
wants a pair of the lovely Rena's socks" and walks away. Shugo rips it down, disgusted.
The Tanabata event starts with the contest of the weaver maiden. First, Reki will randomly select participants from the
audience. The winner will be the first to reach the stage. Then that person's wish will be granted. If the person wrote
down a wish that could not be granted by the system's powers, they will receive free access for one year.
The person chosen randomly to become Orihime is Rena. She is lifted into the air and teleported to stage. Balmung thinks
that this cannot be a coincidence, she was chosen despite the fact that the sampling was supposed to be purely random.
The rest of the participants will try to make their way across the river and the first person to greet Rena will be crowned
as Kenju(Orihime's lover). Once the contest starts, all of the participants start walking towards Rena. Suddenly Shugo and
many others suddenly drop into the water. Reiki says that it gets deeper as they progress towards Rena. Komiyan decides
that he is going to get a leg up by riding his Grunty across the river. Since this contest is anything goes, Mireille uses
the magic spell Ice Storm to freeze everyone in the ice while she tries to skate. Not one to be cheated out of a victory,
Ouka suddenly smashes the ice causing her and all of the other participants to be freed from the ice. Shugo attempts to continue
towards Rena, but suddenly he hears a yell from Hotaru. It seems that she cannot swim and she was going to try to make it
across the river by running on the ice. Since Hotaru was in danger, Shugo decides to help her back towards the shore. In
the meantime, Komiyan the 3rd has taken the lead and is about to get his wish, until a large fish appears in his path and
he is forced to retreat. Ouka is looking for a worthy fight, and Mireille thinks that defeating a special event character
will give her some rare items. They attack, but the monster takes no damage. The fish heads directly for Shugo but luckily
Balmung and Sanjuro attack the large fish and they protect Shugo. Unfortunately the fish is corrupted and it is able to heal
itself and it goes after Rena. Feeling that there is nothing left to do, Shugo Data Drains the monster (along with Komiyan
who was nearby) and Mireille collects the fish as a rare item. As Shugo reaches for Rena, Rena instead grabs Balmung's hand
to thank him. Since the race was still going on during the battle, Balmung is declared the winner of the race and he is given
the opportunity to kiss Rena.
Moments before the kiss takes place, a Grunty enters at the last minute with footage showing that Shugo was really the
first one there. Therefore, Rena must now kiss her brother, Shugo. They try to complain to Reki that they are brother and
sister but he says that does not matter and that everyone is waiting. As she is about to kiss his cheek, a storm starts brewing
and Balmung states that there was not supposed to be any rain scheduled in that field. Balmung tells Reki that they need
to evacuate everyone before something else happens. Before they leave, Rena asks what Shugo wished for, but he does not tell
her. As Rena and Shugo leave, we see that Rena wished that they could be a family again and Shugo's wish was to be with Rena.
