Previous Episode
Morti appears and immediately she changes the appearance of the area. The group then discovers taht she can control all aspects
of The World and all of the weird events, such as the Spring of Myst drying up and the difficult monsters were because of
her. When Shugo attempts to attack Morti, she teleports Komiyan in from another area to protect her.
Inside the CC Corp offices, Reki discovers that Phantom City is no longer being controlled by CC Corp. Soon Kamui enters
and stands by his side.
In Phantom City, Morti summons the the NPCs of the town and she has them start attacking Shugo and the others. When Shugo
got tired of fighting, he prepares to Data Drain Morti, but Sanjuro stops him claiming that she is the only connection they
have to Rena.
Back in the office, Reki asks what Kamui found on the hacker's computers. She replies that they had a real interest in
death. When Reki repeats what Kamui just said, he turns his back to her and Kamui stabs him with her spear. His character
turns gray and disappears…
Morti explains that the reason behind her actions was because she wanted to know the true meaning of death. She wanted
to create a true death when both users and NPC die. She then proceeds to kill the NPCs.
Reki teleports back to his office soon after he reconnects to The World and proceeds to continue his conversation with
Kamui. She explains that Morti used the kids to create death in the world. Reki then teleports a frozen monster into the
room and explains that when a player is killed by the modified monster, a special gate opens and the players are sent to a
special area within the server. An idea is then planted in the player is causing them to think that they really dead.
Kamui explains that upon searching the kids computers, the data that she found indicated Shugo was originally their target.
Although lately Rena became the target once the hackers found out the extent of the bracelet's powers. Thus if Shugo had
been caught in the illusion and something went wrong, then he could have used the bracelet to escape. However since Rena
does not have the bracelet, she became the target.
Shugo and the others stumble upon the same information that Reki and Kamui just discovered. They were able to figure
out that if Morti really wanted to learn the true meaning of death, Shugo would be too risky because of his bracelet, Rena
became the target. Morti's goal must then be to eliminate Aura, which will then eliminate people being able to come back
alive once they are killed inside the game. Morti decides that she will use Rena to catch Aura. Inside the cave illusion,
a large monster swallows Rena and teleports to Morti.
Back at the office, Kamui explains that they must develop highly contagious virus that will not only corrupt data, but
eliminate it completely from all CC Company's backup servers. Then they will have to install it in Rena.
Morti initiates her World of Death scheme by infecting Rena and everyone who knows Rena's member addresswith a virus to
delete their characters. Immediately, everyone's hit points start decreasing, and nobody is able to log out. Sensing that
they were all in trouble, Aura appears and uses her strength to stop the virus and tells everyone to attack the monster.
Balmung quickly heals the party and everyone take the offense again.
Reki and Kamui realize that a vaccine against the virus is impossible and the only thing they can do is stop it from being
transmitted. They realize that if they fail everyone will will either fall unconscious or possibly die. Kamui then leaves
Reki and teleports to the Phantom City to fight with the one she loves.
In Phantom City, the virus is still infecting the characters and eventually they are left unarmed. However Shugo's bracelet
is unaffected, but Aura tells him not to use it, or else Rena will also be affected. Kamui soon appears and a magic attack
and tells the party that although their weapons may be gone, they can still use their items.
Shugo tries to attack but he is tossed into the city ruins. When he pulls himself together, he notices a shadow hiding
amongst the buildings.
