Contact Me

The show opens up with a young man who is searching for the Spring of Myst. When he finally finds it, it is all dried up and he wonders why the administrators are working on the springs. Suddenly, several monster gates open up and attack him. He starts running for his life, as he is running, he notices that the world seems different - particularly with the upside down coconut trees, dried up Spring of Myst, and high powered monsters. One of the monsters cuts down several coconuts and the young man trips on them falling to the ground. Seeing his moment to attack, the monster kills him. At the same time, in real life, a boy lies unconscious in his room at his computer as his monitor flashes "Life Over".

Kunisaki Shugo explains that he outgrew the game in Junior High school. He checks his email to find that he has won a contest that allows him to play The World as the legendary .hacker Kite. Shugo calls up his twin sister to tell her the good news and she informs him that she too has won the contest and that her character will be remodeled after the character Blackrose (also a legendary .hacker). Shugo mentions that he never entered in any contest and that he does not even have the software to play the game. That is when Rena informs Shugo that she entered him in the contest and that just incase one of them won, she installed the world on his computer.

Shugo finally decided to give The World and chance and he logs in. After a few moments, Shugo meets up with his sister, Rena and they finally get a good luck at what each other's character looks like and Shugo is surprised by the appearance of his sister. When both Shugo and Rena are done with their greetings, several onlookers notice their resemblance to the .Hackers and immediately recognize them as the winners of the contest.

Shortly after everyone recognizes them as the winners of the contest, Rena explains to Shugo the story behind their character models. At one point there was a legendary item that was hidden in The World. This item was supposed to transcend the system itself and allowed the users to go beyond the systems' rules. One day a strange power started putting normal players into a coma and nobody knew why. Two members: a boy, Kite and a girl, BlackRose formed a party that ultimately put an end to all the strange occurrences. As a reward, their characters were retired so no one else could use them. Rena is so excited that they are allowed to use the Legendary Characters. However, Shugo is happy just because he is able to talk to Rena, who left home 3 months ago. Shugo decides that they should pass the time by going to fight monsters in the field "Bursting Passed Over Aqua Field". As they are making their way to the chaos gate, a girl watches them from a distance as they warp away.

On the field, Rena and Shugo watch as a Level 1 class monster appears in front of them. Shugo attacks, but is easily knocked to the ground by the monster. Rena performs Calamity Cut to take out the monster and then she offers her brother a healing potion. After Shugo is healed, she asks him if read the instruction manual prior to playing The World. When Shugo responds that he did not, Rena reprimands him for not reading the instructions and told him that the monster could have been taken out with simply a swing of your sword. Afterwards Rena tells Shugo that although he thinks that he outgrew the game, in reality he had to stop because he could not survive.

After being reprimanded by Rena, Shugo is ready to redeem himself and says that he will fight the next monster that appears. However the next monster is an armored Super Samurai Shogun. Rena starts getting worried because it is at Level 48 and it should not be in a beginner's area. Realizing that they are no match for the enemy, the two run for their lives. As Shugo and Rena are running away, the mysterious girl continues to watch from afar. After running a short while, Shugo and Rena are eventually trapped with little hope of escaping. Deciding that it would be better if one of them escapes, Shugo decides to lure the monster away from Rena. The Samurai Super Shogun hits Shugo once and that force was enough to kill Shugo. In the real world, Shugo can no longer move his body and he starts to wonder what is going on. Back in the game, the Super Samurai Shogun decides to go after Rena who is wondering why Shugo's ghost is nowhere nearby.

Shugo then hears a voice telling him that he must not die. A girl in white appears from within the game and kisses Shugo. After she kisses him, Shugo wakes up and his character is no longer dead. The girl in the white gives him a gold bracelet and tells him to use Data Drain. After the meeting, Shugo wakes up in The World with the bracelet on and soon hears his sister scream. While Shugo is running to find where Rena is, we eventually see Balmung, the system administrator, has come to her rescue and is doing his best to hold off the monster. Being Rena's big brother, and feeling like he should protect her, Shugo sets his task on protecting Rena by performing a Data Drain on the monster and changing the monster into a sword. Seeing how Rena was so close to the Data Drain, Balmung asks if she is ok. When Shugo tells him to stop holding his sister, Balmung teleports away.

After witnessing these events the mysterious girl appears and introduces herself to Shugo and Rena. She identifies herself as Mireille, rare hunter of love and courage. She is now obsessed with their characters and with all of the events that just occurred. She also takes note that Shugo is now wearing a new bracelet that can overwrite a monster's data. She assumes that because they have limited edition characters, they also have their own special events and items.

Meanwhile, Balmung calls for his assistant Reki. He is concerned about the fact that a Super Samurai Shogun appeared in the beginner's area and that it might have something to do with the limited edition characters Kite and Blackrose.
